Our History: 2008 - 2018

Established in 2008, NACEC’s primary role at that time was to accelerate the establishment and growth of community enterprise centres across the regions. With support from Enterprise Ireland; the Local Enterprise Offices (County Enterprise Boards until 2014); the Local Development Groups (LDGs) and many local community-based organisations, over 250 enterprise centres and hubs were opened across communities in Ireland between 2008 and 2018.

In June 2018, a new Executive Committee was appointed to NACEC. In February 2019, this volunteer Executive was appointed as the first NACEC Board when the organisation achieved CLG (Company Limited by Guarantee) status.

More recently: 2019 - 2021

Aligned with Enterprise 2025 Renewed, NACEC’s current strategy was launched in late 2019. Our strategy is rooted in an extensive, independently-led consultative process which took place in the early months of 2019, engaging with member and non-member centres and hubs; local, regional and national government; state agencies and the private sector.

The resulting NACEC 2019 – 2021 Strategy is not only reflective of the ambition of our community to positively impact local and regional economic development and social prosperity through enterprise centres and hubs but also, importantly, aligns with government’s strategic priorities, policies and plans under the current Programme for Government – Our Shared Future.
